I suggest we have Co-President to share the varied responsibilities and tasks of managing the business of the community. We need a Secretary to keep meeting notes so that we can document our decisions. We need a Treasurer to keep track of our finances. We need a Community Laison who can keep track of Dekalb County news and be able to inform the community of decisions pending that could directly affect the neighborhood. An example of this could be our current relationship with the newly constructed QT. We need a Communications Officer to generate more efficient ways for important messages to reach all of our citizens in a timely way. And, finally I suggest an Events Coordinator to plan and to organize 4 seasonal gatherings a year to gather and have fellowship and enjoy each other's company. If any of these positions appeal to your heart or your skill set, We need you. It is important to stress, we all live busy lives, but just maybe through helping each other, our lives can be made a little easier.
I have a lot to learn, and I am humble in my service. What I feel I have been called to do is to bring us together, to do together, what we cannot do alone. The big world out there seems to get a little crazier every day. There is so much we cannot affect. We cannot change. But, perhaps here, closer to home, we can be kind, we can help each other, we can share our knowledge, our skills, our friendship with each other so that we can live better day to day lives here in our neck of the woods, Dunaire.
Sincerely,
Edee Heard
CIVIC ASSOCIATION MEETINGS
ARE HELD EVERY
2ND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH
Next Meeting is May 12th at 7:00pm
From the President….
Hi friends. My name is Edee Heard. I am originally from Austin, Texas. I have lived in Dunaire for 10 years. I am a retired teacher of Spanish, divorced mom of three grown sons, grandmother of Micah age 12 and best friend to Ella Belle, my blonde lab mix with whom you may have seen me walking through the neighborhood. I feel passionate about the uniqueness of our neighborhood. We live in an urban forest, which at this juncture in time, we must actively protect and cultivate. I delight in the rich tapestry of diversity among our neighbors and all the unique talents they bring to our community. I love this neighborhood and I love my neighbors who have become my friends…which is why I volunteered at the March 3rd zoom meeting of our Civic Association to serve as Interim President. Doug Yancy, our outgoing president, served the neighborhood for 26 years and has well-earned recognition for his loyal service. As we organize and come together anew, we can elect officers for positions long held vacant.
